Friend with benefits vs friend on benefits

Now I am not going to explain this to anyone (Kit). So if you don’t know what a friend with benefits is, work it out. It might help if I tell you that the following comes from the Evening Standard’s sex column.

Responding to a question about how the World Cup would affect people’s sex lives:

Louise, 24, waitress

“Being a single girl I’m always playing sex roulette — some weeks you get it, some weeks you don’t. I imagine the World Cup won’t make any difference unless my friend on benefits wants to celebrate the results of an England game.”

How recession-conscious!

Thanks to Marianka for this.

  1. Ha! Yes – I saw this (but didn’t think to blog it!). Although perhaps this is a perk given to the long-term unemployed – part of the Flexible New Deal perhaps?

  2. I’m glad there may be others who needed guidance as to what ‘friend with benefits’ referred to ….
